Ongoing network enhancement

The new csl mobile communications brand combines the best of two major networks – PCCW-HKT mobile service and one2free.

This has resulted in greater coverage and the lion’s share of Hong Kong’s mobile communications spectrum, which includes 900MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz.

All this, added to ownership of a 1,000Mbps optical-fiber terrestrial network⁺ for faster connectivity between the Internet and mobile radio masts, amounts to a superfast and stable mobile data experience, regardless of simultaneous user numbers.

csl has taken the lead in providing mobile network speeds of up to 150Mbps^*, along with blisteringly-fast Wi-Fi connectivity of 1,000Mbps^{^} in some areas.

More than 14,000 Wi-Fi hotspots dotted throughout Hong Kong complement csl’s 4G LTE network, to provide customers with an even better end-to-end, high-speed, mobile data experience.

^*150Mbps is the network specification for 4G LTE network (2600MHz – CAT 4) downlink, with 50Mbps uplink. However, actual speed experienced by a customer will be considerably less than the network specifications, and affected by customer’s device, transmission technology, individual network and software used, network configuration, coverage, usage level, international bandwidth and other extraneous factors.

⁺1,000Mbps is the network specification for an internal optical-fiber network and is different from actual speeds experienced by customers.

^{^}Wi-Fi 1,000Mbps is the network specification for 802.11ac, applicable only to certain csl Wi-Fi hotspots at a limited number of locations. Actual speeds experienced by customers using such hotspots are considerably less than the network specifications and will be affected by user’s mobile device (eg number of a device’s internal antennae), network coverage, international bandwidth and other extraneous factors.
